This and That...

"Lord all I need today is my daily bread. Because money is just money, It comes and it goes. Things are just things, so breakable. Nothing lasts forever, except our love and our soul." - Sean McConnell

My brother posted that quote a couple of months ago and it stuck with me, so I thought I would share it with you.  Last week I had the opportunity to volunteer at The Stewpot in Dallas.  The Stewpot is a local resource center for homeless and at-risk individuals.  I helped serve lunch to almost 800 individuals.  That is a lot of people in need!  As I mentioned in my last post, one of the best gifts to give is time.  I am really working on this, which is not easy with a new baby!

Need a munchkin update?  Well....a couple of weeks ago we tried rice cereal.  The first night he ate it up and then screamed bloody murder every subsequent time we offered it to him.  I did my research and decided to try oatmeal cereal last night.  According to Brock, it was "yummmmm....ummmmm."  He ate it up and then slept 11 hours straight.  Hip hip hooray!

So Blessed!

Saturday morning Brock was baptized at St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell.  He had several family and friends witness his special event.  We are so blessed to have all of these wonderful people in our lives.  We want to thank everyone that attended and especially those that traveled from out of town.  They say the best gift you can ever give is the gift of "time" and it really meant a lot to us that everyone took time out of their busy lives to celebrate Brock's special day.  And....a BIG thank you to Aunt Kathy and the other "elves in the kitchen" for assisting with the preparations on Friday.  With your help, there was not a shortage of laughs and I was able to get a few hours of sleep :)  Thank you Gigi and Grandpa for hosting the after party at your home.  A great time was had by all!

Brock's Godparents are brother Stephen and our good friend Jen.

I found my feet!

Hard to believe our munchkin is four months old!!!  He had his check-up and shots last Friday.  We have a perfectly healthy baby boy.  His stats:

Height:  25 inches - 55th percentile
Weight:  15 pounds, 10 ounces - 67th percentile
Head Circumference:  42 cm - 44th percentile

I teased him that he was shrinking because he went from 90th to 55th percentile in height!  The dr. said we can start him on rice cereal now.  I am a little nervous about this....if his appetite is anything like his father's we are in trouble.  Once we give this boy food, there is no turning back!!

Brock is now reaching out for things....like his feet.  We are at the stage of moving things away from him as we sit at the table.  He wants to touch, grab, knock over and/or put in his mouth EVERYTHING!

Changes are a happening....

When I was young, the Fourth of July was a bittersweet holiday.  I loved the fireworks, parades, food, etc, but in the back of my mind I knew it meant Summer was halfway over.  Well, yesterday I had a similar feeling.  Tomorrow I go back to work after being on maternity leave for almost four months.  I sure am going to miss my little guy!!!! :(
Brock had a good time playing with Uncle Stephen yesterday.

I suppose I should catch you up on Brock's accomplishments over the past two weeks.  Let's see.....

He is starting to tolerate "tummy time" and even pushes himself up now.
He laughs hysterically when Gigi plays airplane with him.  He even straightens out his little arms and legs like Superman sometimes.
He slept completely through the night for a couple of nights.  However, we are not lucky enough for that to last!

On a different note, our home is days away from being ready!  Yippee!!  Buck has done a wonderful job.  I will post pictures eventually. If you want to help us move in, come on over :)
