Mother's Day and 2 Months

Happy Mother's Day!  I hope that everyone had a lovely Mother's Day.  I did!  I was given the gift of sleeping in, yummy breakfast, sweet cards, beautiful flowers and a relaxing day with my boys.  Here are some pictures from our busy weekend with some of the Moms in our lives.

Meet Wilma

To you and me, this is a normal bed post.  However, to our baby boy, this is Wilma.  Brock has had a fascination with her for a couple of weeks now and their daily "conversations" make us laugh.  I think he likes her curves :)

Today I took some video (on my camera) of Brock in his fancy swing. I learned two things: 1. I need a real video camera. 2. If I do take video with my camera, do not turn the camera sideways because the video will be sideways! So, I learned how to rotate video from google, but the video does lose some quality. Oh well, I tried...

The weeks are flying by! Last Saturday some of us hosted a bridal shower for our dear friend, Amy. Brock's attendance was requested at the shower and he did so well amongst all of the women. I was so glad!!

Southbound I35 and More

Happy Friday to All!  Let's see I have some catching up to do....

Last week Brock, Gigi and I made the trek down Southbound I35 so Brock could meet some of his relatives including one of his Great Grandmas.  She is 89 years old and still a dynamite domino player!  She gave us a tour of her garden/plants and even gave us some plants for our new house considering we are completely redoing the landscaping eventually (this is low on the priority list!).  Anyways, Brock did well during the car ride as long as we were moving.  We stopped to pick up bbq on the way down and then stopped to get kolaches on the way back;  he screamed bloody murder both times.  I was pretty sure someone was going to call CPS and report my license plate number.  Ha!  Now I am one of those people that stops way before the line at a red light just so I can slowly inch forward and fool Brock into thinking we are still moving down the road.  Oh the things we do for a little peace and quiet....

Last week was also end of Spring busy season for my work friends.  I am glad April 15th is here and gone for their sake!  I sure did not miss the long hours of tax season!

So, this past week we crossed the six week mark.  Brock is growing, growing, growing....  He is so much more alert now and sleeps a lot less during the day.  I come up with things to keep him entertained and his little mind learning-  daily walks to the park, playtime on his activity mat, reading to him, we even two-stepped around the house the other day.  I love how I can be gone for a couple of hours to run errands (aka get out of the house!), come back and say "hi baby!" and get the biggest smile in return.  He knows who is Mommy is...it melts my heart!

Top Ten List

Top Ten Things I Have Learned in the Past Five Weeks:

10.  Holy Cow Hot Flashes!  No one warned me I would be waking up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat!  I thought someone was blasting the heater at night....until I googled it...

9.  GOOGLE.  Mom, what did you do before the days of google?  Just sit around and wonder why?  what is it?  when will it stop?  Don't get me wrong I ask several questions of my female family members and friends, but I am not necessarily going to call one of my gals up in the middle of the night when I can google "postpartum hot flashes" and get the answer....yes, it's normal and who knows when they will go away.

8.  Poo. Not Pooh Bear, but poo.  When Brock was first born our day revolved around poo- frequency, color, etc.  Buck said I was obsessed with poo.  Well, that is the indicator on how the baby is doing.  Now that I am comfortable with poo it makes me laugh hysterically at times.  Brock has projectile poo only when Daddy is changing his diaper and in direct shot of getting it all over him.  This makes me laugh and Mommy needs that good giggle every now and then.

7.  OxiClean = Lifesaver, I mean Clothes, blanket, sheet-saver.  This #7 on my top ten list perfectly follows #8.  For those of you that do not know OxiClean, I suggest you meet it very soon.

6.  For the Love of Showers.  It's a good thing when someone can watch Brock for a minimum of five minutes for me to get a decent shower.  It is a treat to get a shower longer than that.

5.  Gripe Water. Again, no one told me about this one.  Gripe water helps with those pesky baby hiccups and over-the-top crying episodes.  Now I do not feed it to Brock all of the time, but it sure is helpful when the hiccups or screaming fit have lasted for what seems like FOREVER.  And guess where I learned about it- google!

4.  Shopping. Well, I guess this sort of started while I was pregnant.  Without a doubt, I shop more for this baby boy than myself.  Thank goodness for friends that bought me a giftcard to Ann Taylor Loft- Mommy needs some clothes and they don't sell baby clothes! 

3.  Sleep When He Sleeps.  R-I-G-H-T!  If I had a nickel for every time I heard/read that.  Puh-lease, I would like to find a Mom that was actually successful at doing this.  I do get naps once in a while, but those are 30-60 minute cat naps.

2.  Jess Who?  I am now officially "Brock's Mom."  No one wants to see me, they want to see the kiddo.  What can I say?  He sure is a cutie!

1.  Being a Mom is the best thing I have ever done.  I always heard others say it, but it's not real until you experience it.  While it is one of the more difficult jobs I have done, it is also the most rewarding.  I look down at this sweet baby (that for some reason today will only sleep if he is with his Mommy) and that makes me smile.

4 Weeks Old

Our baby boy is 4 weeks old!  In the past week he has graduated out of newborn diapers and clothes.  He is so long that even some 0-3 month clothes don't fit him!  Today we had a lunch/play date with a good friend and her 2 month old.  It is so nice to have babies around the same age so we can share tips and tricks, as well as sympathize with each other's lack of sleep!  Brock usually does well out and about during the day, while his fussy time is at night between the hours of 10pm and 3am.  Mommy misses those hours of sleep!  He puts on his "angel" face for visitors, so do I have any one that wants to visit during those nighttime hours?!?!

  

First Easter

I hope that everyone had a Happy Easter!!!  Brock started off his first Easter Sunday by attending church for the first time.  He slept through the entire service, which was a good thing for us!  As with every Easter Sunday service, the church was packed full of people.  Buck sat with Brock at the back of the church and each time I heard a baby cry I made sure it wasn't mine!  Gigi has been watching Brock while Buck and I attend church each Sunday, but he might be ready to join us now. 

After church and lunch, we went to Ma's house to visit with Buck's side of the family.  Brock got his first Easter egg!
