One Year Check-Up

Long time, no write....blame it on tax deadlines and fun stuff we have had going on.....birthdays, weddings, etc.  This afternoon we had Brock's one year check-up.  I was not looking forward to it because I knew it involved shots and those are not fun for Brock and Mommy.  The dr. again said Brock is doing great!  His stats:

Height: 30 inches - 52nd percentile

Weight: 24 pounds, 12 ounces - 75th percentile

Head Circumference: 46.5 cm - 51st percentile

Take it or leave it....I hope people don't take these stats too seriously.  I mean you should see how "accurate" they are when they measure a jumpy toddler (still getting used to that)!

A little update on our guy....he is WALKING!  He took a few steps Saturday, March 12th at my Grandma's 90th birthday party and he hasn't stopped since.  Today he was walking all over the house like he had been doing it for months.  So cute!  And...he has an additional bottom tooth coming in to even out 4 on top and 4 on bottom.  No more bottles....well, except for right before bed.

I promise I will post 1st birthday party photos soon.  He loves playing with all of his new toys.  Here are a few photos:

His new tricycle!  He quickly learned how to "brake" by sliding his foot inbetween the bar and tire.  I doubt that was intended in the design, but Brock found it fun anyways.
Fun at the new park!

One Year Today....

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!!  I REALLY can not believe that it has already been a year since our little guy came into this world!  We have laughed, loved and cried so much since then!  Laughed at Mommy and Daddy learning to be parents and how silly our little guy is, love the little boy he is growing into and cried....well, Brock has done most of the crying, but that is what babies do.  Yes, that is what babies do and not toddlers, right Brock?  Every week I get an email from babycenter.com stating what week it is for Brock and what is happening with babies developmentally at that age.  This morning I opened the email and it said "Your TODDLER is one year old..."  Toddler?!? Waaaaahhhh, now I am crying!  I want my baby to be a baby!

Brock's official first birthday party is in a couple of weeks (after busy season!).  However, we had to do a little something for him today.

Let's get this party started!

So, this is a cupcake...
I think I like it!
We love you little guy and we are excited to see what the next year brings!

Rose-Colored Glasses

I had a wonderful birthday thanks to my incredible family and friends!  Buck, Brock and I went to Saltgrass Friday evening for dinner and Brock was very well-behaved.  He even made friends with all of the tables around us.  That boy is going to have a big head because of these random people telling him he is a cutie!  Saturday morning I woke up to apple pancakes (delicious!).  After breakfast, Brock crawled to the living room rug and proceeded to stand up on his own for the first time (without holding onto anything)!!!!!  That was a perfect birthday present for Mommy.  We have the video camera ready to capture those first steps!  Mani/pedi and shopping with my Mom and then a night out with some of our friends....a nice low-key birthday!  We are saving the real party for New Orleans. :)

Goodbye Twenties....Hello Thirty!

I woke up today feeling just like another day, got Brock ready and off to school, went to work and then it hit me…..today is the last day in my twenties!  Buck and I finally watched the movie The Bucket List the other night and it did start the little wheels in my head a turnin’.  What is on my bucket list?
I think I’ll take a moment, celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now it’s time to focus in on where I go from here
Lord have mercy on my next thirty years....

Still no Ma-Ma...

In the past week, Brock has learned...

How to wave bye-bye.  He first waved bye-bye to his Great Grandma (Ma).  What do we do when Ms. L. (daycare) is on vacation?!?  Well, we found wonderful people to watch our little one while we were at work.....big thanks to Gigi and Ma!

To say Thank You!  Buck and I always say "thank you" to Brock when he hands us something.  Well, this weekend we handed him something and he said "thank you."  We both heard it and asked ourselves if it was real!  So, of course, we gave him something else and again we heard those kind words.  He is watching EVERYTHING we do!

How to clap his hands.  The boy is trying at rhythm.  We love to watch him "dance" when he hears music.  He is so silly.

Just to recap, Brock knows how to say da-da, duck, quack and thank you.  Still no MA-MA!  The conversation goes something a little like this...

Daddy:  Brock say ma-ma.
Brock: DA-DA
Mommy:  :(

I asked him very nicely to learn how to say ma-ma by Mother's Day.  Ha!

Sunday Funday!

Today Brock learned to walk behind his Explore n Grow and couldn't stop!  He walked lap after lap around the house.

Mommy and Daddy bought Brock a swing since the playground is under construction.  Luckily, it should be done by early Spring.
