Brock Turns SIX!

I know I say this every year, but it really is hard to believe our first son is already six.  Brock, you make us so proud to be your parents.  We love your hard working attitude, thirst for learning, kind heart, sense for adventure and your silly side.  Keep doing what you are doing and never forget that we love you!  Brock loves being outside, going on adventures in our backyard, checking on the chickens, picking on his brother, PIZZA, reading at bedtime, practicing math, earning money, talking about his day with mama at night, family hugs, minecraft, games (Yoshi!) and baseball.

We celebrated on March 5th with a bunch of family and friends.  Our day started with Brock's first baseball game of the season followed by lunch at the Black Walnut Café for my birthday.  Brock wanted his birthday party at Urban Air Trampoline Park in Southlake.  He had a great time jump, jump, jumping!  We invited family and friends back to the house after the party for more visiting.  It was a fun day!

 

 

The next day Brock opened his presents from us- skates and a new scooter.  Oh yea, and Mama received a bike for her birthday.  Yay!

We had Brock's school wish him a Happy Birthday on the big board outside. 

The Beginning of the Staley Farm

I jokingly say we have started a farm.  It all started when we purchased 13 chicks in February.  We ordered 13 hens and they arrived in a box at the post office on February 19th.  They were so cute...I thought Buck and Brock might sleep in the dining room with the chicks that first night.  Brock drew a picture of the chicks representing each chick and their home.  We have four Barred Rock, four Easter Eggers, four Austra Whites and one Golden Comet.

 

 

 

February 21st...

February 28th...getting big fast.  They outgrew their original home.

Farmer Buck made them a coop out of scrap materials and they eventually moved outside.  I didn't take any photos of them for a month (hard to believe).  Here are a couple of photos from Easter, March 27th.

Just a boy and his chicken on April 16th.  The barred rock chickens are the most friendly. 

At some point, Buck discovered we don't have 13 hens, instead only 12.  He was in the coop one night and heard one of them try to crow.  We have a rooster (one of the Easter Eggers)!

Brock received a butterfly farm kit for his birthday, so we were also hatching butterflies.  Our first butterfly emerged Easter weekend and we released it a few days later.

Our second butterfly emerged and we released it as well.
